Dosage form Drop - 30 ml
Composition Passion flower (Passiflora incarnata L.)
Suggested Use
  • Children 2-6 years old: 6 drops, three times a day and 10 drops at bed time.
  • Children over 6 and adults: 10 drops, three times a day and 25-30 drops at bedtime.
  • For narcotics withdrawal: 40 drops, three times a day (with methadone).
It is better to dilute the medicine with some water before use.

Pharmacology and Mechanism of Action
Apigenin and Chrysin are important flavonoids in passion-flower herb that have agonist effect on benzodiazepine receptors in the brain, by modulation of the GABA system including affinity to GABA(A) receptors and inhibit GABA uptake and increases GABA concentration and consequently decreases the activity of CNS and causes sedation & anti-anxiety effects.

  • Children less than 2 years old
  • Severe GI illnesses
Adverse Effects Mild GI side effects, such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps and strong sedation in over dosage consumption.
Interactions
  • Concurrent use of this drop with antiplatelets and anticoagulant drugs may cause bleeding.
  • Concurrent use of this drop with hypnotic drugs such as benzodiazepines, tricyclic antidepressants and antihistamines, may cause more sedation and mental disorder.
