Suggested Use
  • Children less than 2 years old: 1/2 teaspoonful, twice a day
  • Children 2-6 years old: 1 teaspoonful, three times a day
  • Children 6-12 years old: 1/2 tablespoonful, three times a day
  • Adults: 1 tablespoonful, three times a day
Effective Ingredients

Pharmacology and Mechanism of Action
Thymol and Carvecrol are the main components of Thyme with antispasmodic and antitussive properties. This drug can be used in symptomatic treatment of asthma by antispasmodic properties on smooth muscle of trachea and enhancing respiratory ciliary movement.
This medicine may increase respiratory ciliary movement, mucus excretion and reduces congestion and inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose. It also has an expectorant effect.
Thymol also has antibacterial (against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, etc.), and antifungal effects so this medicine can be effective in improving upper respiratory bacterial infections.
Contraindications In pregnant women, nursing mothers, severe GI illnesses and inflammations of urinary tract.
Adverse Effects Irritation of digestive tract mucus membrane in some patients and menstrual spotting in some women.
Interactions Concurrent use of this medicine with antiacid drugs is prohibited.
Recommendations Thymex syrup contains sucrose, therefore diabetic patients can use the drop form.
